Vlashaj
is the smallest community in which Planters conducts regular ministry.
This quiet little village boasts a friendly population and limitless potential
amongst its youth. A single, gravel street runs through its center
and early in 2002 the Lord blessed Planters with a facility right on the corner
of a primary intersection in the village.
The walled-in yard area has proven to be a great place to conduct outdoor puppet
shows, volleyball matches, and a variety of group games for those who regularly participate in the
Saturday morning program. During
the early days of ministry in Vlashaj, we were meeting on a creek bank. Today,
after substantial renovations have been completed to our new
facility, we have a functional space heated in the winter by woodstove and cooled in
the summer by ceiling fans. Two classrooms have been outfitted with desks and stools and artwork for a pleasant environment in which
to conduct class. A second floor was added to the existing structure
which features a small apartment for the Bright Star Team and other guests of
Planters to stay for extended visits in the community.
In the spring of 2003, the Team expanded its
ministry in the community to include two English classes and a discipleship
class for recent graduates of the children's programs. Computer classes
were added in the spring of 2004.
