Winnie came to school today.
Sometimes our ministry takes on really fun projects. Today we went to
Budull School, about 2 miles from the national airport, 4 miles from the Adriatic Sea, and 1/2 mile from where they first rang the castle bell
signaling the Turks invasion 500 years ago.
Since we do village work with remote schools, we have been given the lovable task of handing out
Samaritan's Purse Shoeboxes. For a number of
years our privilege has been to place in the hands of children boxes filled with toys,
toiletries, and trinkets. In this picture you can see a small soccer ball, toothbrush, hand cream, small purse, and of course, Winnie.
We take the opportunity to present Jesus as the reason for our being in the country and the main thrust of the boxes being given to them by
Christians from other countries. It's a great day at the school, much like a school-wide Christmas party with everyone comparing and sharing what they
found in their own box. To top it off, school even gets out early.
The sixth grader in the picture with David was really excited about her gifts. I hope you can be as excited about the gift of Jesus in your life,
as well!
