The weather was warming. This was delightful news. We had
just experienced five sub-freezing mornings with broken pipes and no water.
A close neighbor who has earned my admiration on a number of occasions took
possession of this good news and made himself the self-proclaimed forecaster
for the neighborhood. “Spring is on the way,” he said. In fact, so
encouraged were most Albanians that we all surrendered our winter clothes
and presented ourselves coatless and ready for spring duty.
Faint and feeble quotes from others doubted his
forecasts! “Winter will make a rehearsal on Thursday,” they said, “and then
Friday night will censure the voice of this spring talk, lower your
affection for nature and commit your water tanks to the influence of ice!”
Here are our water pipes on Saturday morning, void of water and awaiting the
attention needed to replace them.
I’ve not seen the forecaster. He’s too busy looking for his winter coat.
I’m learning about the counsel and advice of man, sometimes it’s
well-planned, sometimes it’s ill-timed. The best advice is to listen to God
but often “we do not know the thoughts of the Lord, we do not understand His
plan.” Micah 4:12 |
