We should have known better than to think or be fooled into
thinking that it could last forever. We sometimes live and die by the
weather here in Albania. It was just a day ago that our thermometer
read 65 outside our window. This morning it read 51 inside the window.
Doing missionary work in Jamaican-like weather didn’t seem so bad
especially hearing of snow and cold back in Illinois. But this morning
our water was just trickling out of the faucet and the temperature
overnight had quickly turned to near freezing. So, today we worked
around the table that was positioned near the wood stove. Wednesday is
the day for the team to be in the
office doing planning work for the next week, Bible study and team
discussion regarding issues in the village work.
Today we spent much of the time discussing the Christmas
programs that will be taking place next week in
the three villages. We
have been practicing for several weeks and things are beginning to take
shape…well almost. There are a few rough edges for the band (assorted
musical instruments) that Mersin is
directing in Marikaj. There
are about 15 boys that didn’t make the special choir group. They didn’t
make the drama try-outs either. Their voices were not quite booming
enough to make the scripture reading cut and so now they are part of the
“musical band”. I’m sure their parents will appreciate them very much
and we sure appreciate their efforts and enthusiasm. All in all, it
will be a “to die for” presentation and our prayers and desires are for
the Lord to be lifted up and for the ministry to be better known with
the parents and the villages.
The
Kasalle program may provide much interest. If anyone is looking for
the unexpected you must come and see what will take place next week. We
have been having about 150 children coming to the meetings on Thursdays
and we have no idea what parents will show up at their program. It
could have the possibility of a crusade-like meeting. What fun and
anticipation.
May all of you have a wonderful Christmas!
