New Stones
Change is good.
Our human nature even invokes it as a necessity. We need intermissions in
life. When we want a break from our work we go on a vacation. When we want
a variety in food we seek a smorgasbord. When we want to please our mother
we change our socks.
A slow and
benevolent change is rolling across Albania. With the advance in living
standards, many of our fellow villagers find themselves in the market for
change. In the rural settings the real currency being exchanged is one of
the “out with the old and in with the new.” New houses are being built as
fast as their wives can carry the rocks from the river. Our neighbor has
had this wooden structure (pictured) for nine years, a long time for a dirt
floor. You can see the change, new foundation and all. In a short time
we’ll have a look at new walls that were once cardboard. It will be a
complete make over.
The apostle Paul
in II Corinthians 5:17, says that our lives will go through an alteration as
well. After understanding Jesus and the faith that we need to place in Him
we are a new creation, no more dirt floors. Our old spiritual condition is
gone. We’ve replaced old cardboard walls with something as clean as Jesus’
robes.
Looking at our
neighbor’s new foundation, with fresh and recently carried stones, we can
see the transformation needed for a new beginning.
