Personally -- Be Cultivated Daily
Cultivating
is good for any crop. Not only does it convince weeds that they are not wanted,
but after you stir the soil and free it from its compactness, it stretches,
yawns, and goes back to work.
A little cultivation is good for our spiritual
life as well. Hebrew 4:12 says, “For God’s message is alive and full of
power in action, sharper than any two edged sword piercing even to the depths of
soul and spirit, to the dividing of joints and marrow, and passing judgment on
the thoughts and purposes of the heart!” The dynamic quality of God’s
cultivation is its capacity to penetrate hearts that are compacted. God’s word
can reach the innermost recesses of our self. His word put into practice will
let our spirit stretch and grow and go back to work.
Sarah and I are being cultivated daily by God!
Whether our normal farming practices have been curtailed by rain or situations
arise in the village work unforeseen, in doing this, God’s word is able to
discriminate what is spiritual (trials for our good) and what is natural (of
this world).
We hope your summer allows you to be stretched
by a message whether from God’s word or experiences He allows to come into
your life.
